Engelbert Wrobel´s Swing Society

Engelbert Wrobel´s Swing Society ist zweifelsohne eine der führenden Swingbands in Europa. Sie spielt in der klassischen Smallband-Besetzung mit vierköpfiger Rhythmusgruppe und Klarinette (oder Saxofon). 

Der Sound der Band wird geprägt durch das kraftvolle, brillante und ausdrucksstarke Spiel des Bandleaders Engelbert Wrobel, sowie durch ausgefallene, von Klarinette, Gitarre und Piano dreistimmig gespielte Arrangements.

Im Laufe der Jahre   ist die Gruppe mit vielen Gastsolisten aufgetreten.  Besonders zu erwähnen ist die  von 1997 bis 2004  währende, regelmäßige Zusammenarbeit mit dem legendären Schweizer Musiker und Entertainer Hazy Osterwald, mit dem die Swing Society 2 CDs eingespielt hat.

Auch Dan Barrett, der weltbekannte Posaunist, Trompeter und Arrangeur begleitet die Band seit 1999 und ist auch auf 2 gemeinsamen CDs vertreten.

Andere Gäste waren u.a. Silvia Droste, Charly Antolini, Gretje Kauffeld und Bucky Pizzarelli.

Im Jahr 2009 feierte die Band ihr 20jähriges Bestehen.

Engelbert Wrobel´s Swing Society is without a doubt one of the leading European swing bands, performing in the “classic” small band line up with a 4 piece rhythm section and clarinet (or saxophone).

The sound of the band is stamped by the powerful, brilliant and expressive playing of bandleader Engelbert Wrobel, as well as by fancy arrangements for three voices, played by clarinet, piano and guitar.

Over the years the band appeared with many guest soloists. Specifically to be noted is the constant collaboration with Swiss musician and entertainer “Hazy Osterwald” from 1997 until 2004, resulting in 2 together recorded CDs.

Also worldwide known and respected trombonist and trumpet player “Dan Barrett” joins the band since 1999 and can be heard as well on 2 together released CDs.

Other guests  among others where: Silvia Droste, Charly Antolini, Gretje Kauffeld and Bucky Pizzarelli.

In the year 2009 the Swing Society celebrated its 20^th anniversary.
